What Lions Do

Lions in District 2-X3 serve communities across Central and East Texas in 15 counties including: Anderson, Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Henderson, Hill, Houston, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan and Navarro to deliver hands-on service, support vision and youth programs, and much more. Fostering Leadership

In District 2X3, fostering leadership means identifying members with leadership potential and giving them opportunities to grow through hands-on experience and training.

Leadership development is also about mentorship. Experienced Lions sharing their years of knowledge with newer Lions ensures continuity and stability across clubs.

Strong leaders today create strong clubs tomorrow, ensuring Lions continue to meet evolving community needs across our District, our State and our world.

Developing New Clubs

Developing new clubs is essential to expanding Lions service and meeting needs across District 2X3. Each community has unique needs, and new clubs allow Lions to respond locally–while staying connected to the broader global mission of Lions International.

District 2X3 focuses on club development by identifying communities in need of and ready for service, supporting club chartering efforts, and ensuring that new clubs start with a strong foundation—including leadership training for officers, mentorship from its sponsor clubs, and guidance from experienced Lions on operations, reporting, and service planning.

Lifelong Lions = Lifelong Service

Encouraging Lions to succeed means creating an environment where members feel supported, valued, and empowered to contribute in ways that fit their strengths. Everyone is born with gifts that can be shared as a Lion.

Clubs succeed when Lions are given clear expectations, meaningful roles, and recognition for their efforts. Providing training, sharing best practices, and promoting collaboration between clubs helps Lions overcome challenges and stay motivated.

2-X3 District Governor Team

District Governor Kim Giles

District Governor Kim Giles has been a Lion since 2013 and is a Charter Member of the Waco Women’s Lions Club. She has served as the club’s President twice, and as Zone Chair, Guiding Lion, Marketing/Social Media Chair and Vision Chair. DG Kim has sponsored new Lions through the years, assisted in opening new Lions clubs in District 2-X3, earned multiple International President awards/certificates, and is widely respected for her leadership, integrity, and commitment to service in District 2X3. Kim is a Melvin Jones Fellow and enjoys sharing her gifts with other Lions whenever she can.

1st Vice District Governor Daniel Burkeen

1st Vice District Governor Daniel Burkeen has been a Lion since 2001, serving the Mexia Lions Club as its President three times, served eight years as a Zone Chair, and LCIF District Coordinator. A Lion of the Year and Melvin Jones Fellow, he is widely respected for his leadership and deep community service across District 2X3.
